Karel Matyska
Karel Matyska is a successful entrepreneur and co-owner of several companies with turnovers exceeding CZK 1 billion. He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University and worked as a researcher in theoretical cybernetics. In 1990 he worked in the highest positions of the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
Between 1991 and 2001, he built and managed, among others, 100MEGA, a computer technology company, Codegen, an engineering company, and Guseppe, a frozen food company. For a long time, he has also been investing in distressed companies and managing their restructuring.
His most successful projects include leading the restructuring or the building of the following companies: Graspo, MD Logistika, Markid, Skaličan, VIVA Gelato, Egres construction material, FrostFood, and PPS Group in Slovakia.
In addition, as a consultant, he managed the financial restructuring of the Špindlerův Mlýn ski resort. He is also co-owner of Value Added Appraisal, an expert firm. He was involved in the analysis of impacts of the bill on the state’s settlement with churches and the establishment of the Analytical Group for Dioceses. He implemented the restructuring of Karmelitánské nakladatelství (Carmelite Publishing House), Nemocnice sv. Kříže na Žižkově (the Hospital of St. Cross in Žižkov, Prague) and, above all, Nemocnice sv. Alžběty Na Slupi (St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Na Slupi, Prague), which he now manages.
